To successfully complete the programme, participants must fulfil the following conditions:
- Full attendance of the 3 modules.
- The 3 modules of the course will be assessed separately. Each module should be passed successfully before entering the next one. The average of the 3 modules assessments represents 60% of the final grade.
- Submission of a professional thesis: At the beginning of the programme, each participant will be required to define a thesis topic directly related to their professional activity. The topic will be continuously refined throughout the course of the programme and lead to the writing of a professional thesis (approx. 60'000 characters, 25 pages). The assessment of the thesis represents 40% of the final grade.
Successful participants will receive the Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, that has the full status as an approved degree-granting institution (university-level) by the Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ). The AAQ assures and promotes the quality of teaching and research at universities in Switzerland.
The Executive Master is an internationally recognized professional 'Diploma of Advanced Studies'. It has a weighting equivalent to 30 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System).
Please, consult the Swiss system of higher education which shows that the degree can be earned at any stage in professional or academic life (following a bachelor or its equivalent). The DPP is not direct preparation for PhD work (but rather, part of the professional track), so ECTS credits awarded do not apply towards a PhD.
